March 25th, 2024_ETI – Economic Transformation Initative project’s activites are proceeding in Gilgit-Baltistan region, thank to a 20 million euro soft loan provided by the Italian Government, with the overall goal to enhance life conditions of thousands of beneficiaries in the northern districts.
AICS Islamabad conducted a field mission in Gilgit, Nagar and Hunza districts to take part to the inception workshop of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the infrastructure schemes including water channels, farm to market roads and bridges, in order to assure a proper allignment with international standards. These interventions will make availaible water for irrigation purpose for more than 3,500 households, while infrastructures will facilitate trade and a significant enhancement of local products value chain.
Improving agricultural work conditions and food security plays a central role in the framework of AICS Islamabad strategy, along with a full commitment to provide rural communities with tools and resources to adapt to the consezuences of climate change.
