Islamabad, June 10, 2024_ This morning, at the premises of the Economic Affairs Division, a new portfolio review meeting has been arranged to take a look at the on-going and in pipeline development projects funded by the Italian Government in Pakistan.
AICS Islamabad Head of Office Mr. Francesco Zatta met EAD – Paris Club (PC) representatives Mr. Salman Ghani (Acting Joint Secretary), Mr. Yahya Akhumzada (Joint Secretary), Mr. Khalid Khan (Deputy Secretary) and Ms. Nazia Hayat (Section Officer, Europe 1). Representatives of Local Authorities implementing the on-going projects also attended the meeting.
The Italian programme in Pakistan currently includes 11 projects, 5 soft loans and 6 grants, for a total commitment of more than 150 million euro. Soft loans are managed by EAD to implement activities in priority sectors such as agriculture, cultural and natural heritage’ safeguarding and promotion, vocational training.
In this framework, the portfolio review represents a very important coordination opportunity for the stakeholders, in order to ensure governmental counterparts’ ownership and local authorities’ accountability. At the end of the meeting, Acting Joint Secretary Mr. Ghani highlighted his own satisfaction for the achievements of the italian development programme in Pakistan.
